The first release in Bandai's brand new 30MP line, Rei Ayanami in her Thrice Upon a Time white plug suit
Rei from Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time arrives in the white plug suit that lands at the end of the final Rebuild film. This is the kit that opens Bandai's new 30MP line, short for 30 Minutes Preference. The 30MP line sits next to 30MS and 30MM in the 30 Minutes family but the focus is on character figures rather than mecha. Rei is the first release.
For the builder, this is a snap-fit colour-moulded figure kit aimed at builders who want a clean, articulate display piece without committing to glue or paint. If you have built a 30MS or a 30MM kit before, you already know the rhythm. If you haven't, this is a clean place to start.
Build difficulty
Skill Level 2 on the Mecha Express scale, snap-fit, no glue, no paint required. A confident beginner with a sharp pair of nippers and a hobby knife will finish her in 2 to 4 hours at a relaxed pace. The two tampo-printed face parts (factory-printed in colour) in the box let you display her straight away without any decal work. The waterslide decals are there for builders who want the extra expressions, but they are optional and the build sits comfortably in the beginner-to-intermediate band either way.
Technical highlights
The plug suit is moulded with gloss injection so the white catches light the way the film art does, no paint required to hit that finish. Articulation lets you pose Rei standing, sitting on the floor with the swap-in sitting parts, or holding the Lance of Longinus. Two tampo-printed face parts give you the most-used expressions out of the box. A blank face plate is included for builders who want to apply the waterslide decals for the full range. The kit uses a mix of plastic and ABS as standard for Bandai injection figure kits.
What makes this kit special
-
First-ever release in the 30MP line. Rei is the kit that launches Bandai's brand new 30 Minutes Preference branch, the figure-kit side of the 30 Minutes family.
-
Gloss-injection plug suit. The white catches light the way the film art does, captured in-mould rather than asking the builder to paint it on.
-
Two tampo-printed faces plus a blank face plate. The printed faces let you display her straight away. The blank plate lets you apply waterslides for the full range of expressions.
-
Sitting parts. Pose her standing, kneeling, or sitting on the floor with the included replacement parts set.
-
Lance of Longinus, S-DAT player, and Gendo's glasses. The accessory set supports the film's narrative scenes alongside straight display.

Buying this as a gift for an Evangelion fan?
If you're shopping for someone who's into Evangelion and you have no idea what "30MP" or "snap-fit" means, here's why this works.
The 30MP Rei Ayanami is a brand-new release, the first kit in a brand-new Bandai line. That means you don't have to know what's already on their shelf. It can't be a duplicate of anything they already own.
What it actually is in plain language: a roughly 14 cm tall plastic character figure kit that the recipient assembles themselves. No glue or paint required. The plug suit is pre-coloured in the plastic so it looks like the film art straight off the runners. The box includes the Lance of Longinus, an S-DAT player, and Gendo's glasses, all the iconic Evangelion touchstones. It's a safe pick for any Evangelion fan from a casual viewer of the films to a long-time collector.
Fast Australian shipping
Dispatched same day from our Brisbane warehouse if ordered before 2pm AEST on weekdays. Free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $199. Genuine Australian stock in hand, not ordered through an overseas proxy. Packed securely in a sturdy outer box with water-soluble cornstarch void fill that dissolves cleanly in the sink.
What to watch for
-
The plug suit's gloss finish picks up fingerprints more than a matte build does. Handle the white parts with clean hands during assembly, or wear thin cotton gloves for the final pose if you want a perfectly clean display.
-
Waterslide decals take patience to apply cleanly. Most builders find the two tampo-printed faces in the box are enough on their own. If you do use the waterslides, a decal softener helps them sit cleanly on the curved face plate.
-
Bandai have not published an exact scale for the 30MP line at announcement. The figure sits at roughly 1/12 to 1/14 figure-kit proportions and lines up well next to 30MS kits on a shelf.
Builder Tips. Trim runner gates (the points where each part attaches to the plastic frame) close to the part with sharp nippers, then clean up with a hobby knife or a fine sanding stick. If you are applying waterslides to the blank face plate, soak them on a damp cloth for 20 to 30 seconds. Slide them onto the part with tweezers and press out the water with a clean cotton bud.
Build notes
No glue required, this is a snap-fit kit. A basic Gunpla tool kit (sharp nippers, a hobby knife for clean-up, sanding sticks, tweezers, and decal softener if applying the waterslide decals) is recommended though not essential. Approximate build time: 2 to 4 hours at a relaxed pace. Recommended age: 15 and over.
