FAQ

Bandai 1/144 RG Evangelion Unit 00

Bandai 1/144 RG Evangelion Unit 00

This Real Grade release is Bandai's Evangelion Prototype Unit-00 in 1/144 scale, the second kit in the RG Evangelion line. Bandai lets you choose parts to build the Unit-00 either before or after its modification, and it also supports equipment from the film "Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone". It includes seven left and right hand types, two progressive knives and a pallet rifle for posing.

Technical Highlights

  • Spine and shoulder blade movement: Bandai's RG design moves the spine and shoulder blades, with armour that follows the motion.
  • Arm armour: the arm armour follows when the arm is twisted, according to Bandai.
  • Selectable versions: parts selection builds either the pre-modification or post-modification Unit-00.
  • Head colour separation: the head is split into fine parts to reproduce its colouring.

What Makes This Kit Special

  • Seven hand types per side: left and right hand parts, seven types each.
  • Two progressive knives: normal and retracted versions.
  • Pallet rifle and umbilical cable: both included.
  • Realistic decal: one decal sheet is included.

What's In The Box

What to Watch For

One builder's write-up of this Unit-00 reports a grey upper-arm piece near the elbow that fitted loosely and kept falling out during the build. Builders of other RG Evangelion kits also describe loose arms when posing. This is based on a small number of reports, not a product-wide fault.

Build Notes

This is a plastic model kit that needs assembly, rated 15+ by Bandai and not suitable for young children.

MGEX Strike Freedom Golden Week deal

Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Excellent service and fast delivery

I purchased on 6 Jan and my order arrived on 13 Jan. It was very well packed, with both boxes in excellent condition. Cam even provided a small free gift in the box! Overall purchasing experience was smooth and hassle-free. I haven’t had the chance to build the kit yet, but based on the service and care taken with shipping, I would happily purchase from this store if there are other Space Battleship Yamato models available.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
