Bandai 1/144 HG Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina
The Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina is Rondo Gina Sahaku's mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray manga side-story, a black-and-gold reworking of the Astray line built around the Totsuka no Tsurugi transforming claw and the twin Maga no Ikutachi wings. It's a distinctive kit on the shelf: where most Cosmic Era kits lean white and primary colours, the Gold Frame line goes black with gold trim.
Bandai rates this kit Skill Level 2, the same easy-to-complete band most modern HGs sit in. It's a snap-fit build with no cement needed, and the colour separation is handled at the runner level so the black-and-gold look doesn't need painting.
Technical Highlights
The backpack unfolds into the twin Maga no Ikutachi wings for flight-mode posing, and the Maga no Shirahoko spears extend on wire for a launching-attack display. The Torikelos Kai shield doubles as a mount for a detachable beam saber, and the Tsumuha no Tachi claw folds out for close-quarters poses. No LED, no lighting gimmick, this is a straight articulation-and-transformation HG build.
What Makes This Kit Special

What to Watch For
General reception on this kit is positive and searches did not turn up a repeated, corroborated fault. One isolated build report described unusually fragile parts requiring super glue for multiple breaks, but this reads as an outlier rather than a pattern, most other accounts describe a straightforward assembly with good results, particularly when panel lining is used to bring out the gold trim. Handle the wire-mounted Maga no Shirahoko spears with a bit of care during posing since wire-mount parts are inherently more delicate than solid plastic joints.
Builder Tips: Panel line the black and gold panels separately with different coloured markers to keep the trim crisp. Test the backpack's wing-unfold mechanism gently the first few times before posing it fully open.
Build Notes
Snap-fit assembly. No glue required. Standard Gunpla tools (nippers, hobby knife) are enough to get through this kit. No paint required to match the on-screen look. Expect a 3-5 hour build. Action Base sold separately. Recommended age 15+.
