The moving Yokohama Gundam, shrunk to SD Cross Silhouette size
This is the SD Gundam Cross Silhouette take on the RX-78F00, the full-scale moving Gundam that stood at Gundam Factory Yokohama. It was first sold at the Yokohama venue from December 2020 and later offered through Premium Bandai, and the Yokohama site closed for good on 31 March 2024. Bandai sculpted the exterior parts fresh for this kit rather than recolouring the standard SDCS RX-78-2, and one builder who compared the two found the rifle, shield and backpack differ from the regular release.
Build difficulty
Skill Level 1. Bandai lists the kit as snap-fit with no glue and no nippers needed, and rates it for ages 8 and up. One Japanese builder reported finishing it in about an hour straight from the box with no painting or panel lining. A foil seal sheet covers the small details. It suits a first SD kit or a quick evening build.
Technical highlights
- Cross Silhouette frame included. The box states "CS frame included", and one builder write-up confirms there is no SD frame in the box.
- Elbow and knee joints on a slim SD body, with slim proportions that one review notes sets it apart from the standard SDCS Gundam.
- Five hand parts, including a hand shaped to grip the beam rifle, so it can hold its weapon without improvising.
- Extra panel-line detail across the exterior for an SD-scale kit.
What makes this kit special
-
Based on a real moving Gundam: the design comes from the RX-78F00 at Gundam Factory Yokohama, the full-scale Gundam statue built to move.
-
All-new exterior parts: Bandai's own product text describes the armour as completely newly moulded for this release.
-
Cross Silhouette frame: a posable inner frame, as used across the SDCS line.
-
Limited venue release: a Gundam Factory Yokohama limited edition from a site that no longer operates.
What's in the box

- Cross Silhouette frame parts

What to watch for
Drawing on a review site and two Japanese builder blogs. Coverage of this specific kit is thin and mostly Japanese-language, so treat the points below as single-reviewer notes rather than confirmed patterns:
- One builder found the shield mounts on the side of the arm or on the back connection point and cannot be held in the hand, which limits some poses.
- One builder noted simple moulding on the head vulcans and lower backpack thrusters, and no colour separation on the rear waist armour.
- One reviewer noted the beam saber on the backpack cannot be removed and is moulded in plain white, so it looks flat unless you paint it.
The write-ups we read were broadly positive about the all-new sculpt for an SD kit.
Build notes
No glue, and no nippers needed per Bandai, since parts come off by hand. A hobby knife is optional for tidying any leftover gate marks if you want a cleaner finish. The yellow cross on the shield is a foil seal, so take your time lining it up. Suitable for ages 8 and up per Bandai.
