Heine's orange Gouf, rebuilt from scratch for the HGCE line
The Bandai 1/144 HGCE Gouf Ignited (Heine Westenfluss Custom) is the ZGMF-X2000 Gouf Ignited flown by Heine Westenfluss in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. Heine is a FAITH pilot who joins the Minerva alongside Shinn, Rey and Athrun, and his Gouf wears his trademark orange instead of the standard ZAFT blue.
This is a completely new kit, released by Bandai in July 2026, not a reissue of the 2005 HG Gouf Ignited. It uses the SEED Action System and a new 1/144 Z.A.F.T. Frame inner runner. It suits SEED Destiny fans, anyone building out the ZAFT side of the shelf, and builders who want a melee suit that poses as well as the newest SEED kits.
Build difficulty
This is a snap-fit High Grade with 11 runners and no glue needed. Bandai rates it for ages 8 and over, and builders describe it as an easy, relaxed build. A couple of steps in the chest and shoulders fit together like a small puzzle, so it pays to follow the manual closely there. There is no polycap in the kit: every joint is plastic.
Technical highlights
The armour is moulded in two shades of orange, with grey frame parts and white, black and light blue details on the flight pack. Colour separation is strong, so the stickers only cover the mono-eye and a few small spots on the backpack. No paint is needed. The SEED Action System gives the shoulders a forward swing and adds a mid-chest joint, and reviewers rate the articulation highly. The mono-eye moves side to side, and the flight pack connects on a 3 mm joint, so it can swap with other items that use the same standard.
What makes this kit special
-
Telescoping Tempest beam sword: slide the blade out and fit the beam effect, or collapse it and store it inside the shield, with no part swapping.
-
Two Slayer Whips: one straight and one curved, moulded in clear orange for a red-hot look.
-
SEED Action System: forward-swinging shoulders and an extra chest joint make big two-handed sword poses easy.
-
Brand new design: sharper proportions, spikes and head shape than the 2005 kit, built on the new 1/144 Z.A.F.T. Frame.
-
Folding flight pack: the large wings fold and spread, and the whole pack mounts on a 3 mm joint.
-
Adjustable shield grip: the grip inside the shield can be repositioned so the hand can hold the shield out in front.
-
Very few stickers: the orange, white and grey are moulded in, so it looks finished straight off the runners.

What to watch for
Drawing on builder reviews and community threads (r/Gunpla, YouTube build reviews and Japanese hobby reviews):
-
Follow the manual on the chest and shoulders: one reviewer found a few parts fit very tightly or are hard to remove once pressed in, and some steps need a part rotated after fitting. Another described the chest as puzzle-like. Take those steps slowly.
-
Thin antenna: one reviewer warned the head antenna is thin and easy to damage when posing.
-
Joined front skirt: the two front skirt plates are one part, so they do not move separately.
-
A few stickers on the flight pack: the white on the smaller vertical wings and the stabiliser tips are stickers, while the big main wings are moulded in white.
Builder tips: because the joints are all plastic with no polycaps, test-fit and move joints gently at first rather than forcing them. Use tweezers for the small wing stickers so they sit straight. An Action Base makes the whip and flying poses much easier to hold.
Build notes
No glue needed. A pair of nippers, a hobby knife for cleaning up nub marks and a pair of tweezers for the few stickers are all you need. Painting is optional, since the kit is moulded in colour. Bandai rates it for ages 8 and over.
