The prototype that started it all
Before the Gundams existed, OZ built the Tallgeese. A mobile suit so powerful it nearly killed any ordinary pilot who tried to fly it. This is the machine that Zechs Marquise mastered while the rest of the world thought it was impossible. In Master Grade form, Bandai and Hajime Katoki gave it the renewal treatment it deserved.
This is the original OZ-00MS Tallgeese I from Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. Not the II, not the III. The one with the round shoulder shields, the shoulder-mounted Dober Gun, and that distinctive silhouette that still looks unlike anything else in the Endless Waltz line-up.
Build difficulty
This is a Skill Level 2 Master Grade, accessible for intermediate builders and capable builders who've tackled an HG or two and are ready for something with more engineering behind it. The inner frame is the standard MG construction: build the skeleton first, armour over it in phases. No transformation gimmick, no LED wiring. The build itself is well-organised. The main complexity comes from the shoulder assembly and the Dober Gun mounting mechanism. Budget around 10-15 hours depending on your pace.
Technical highlights
The renewal design by Hajime Katoki sharpens the proportions and improves the surface detail over older Tallgeese releases. The Dober Gun attaches to the shoulder hardpoint via a hinged arm and features a spring-loaded barrel that slides back and forward, a nice gimmick that gives the kit some play value beyond the shelf. The back thruster binders are large and add visual presence, though they shift the kit's weight rearward. A display stand is recommended for flying and action poses (more on this in the What to Watch For section).
What makes this kit special
-
Renewal design by Hajime Katoki: sharper proportions and refined surface detail that hold up to modern display standards.
-
Spring-loaded Dober Gun: the barrel actually slides. A functional gimmick that makes posing more engaging.
-
Shoulder-mount Dober Gun arm: the gun deploys on a hinged arm from the right shoulder, matching the show's combat stance.
-
Full EW weapon loadout: Dober Gun, round shield, and two beam sabers, everything the OZ-00MS carried in Endless Waltz.
-
Pilot figure included: a 1/100 scale Zechs Marquise figure for the cockpit.
-
Katoki-designed markings: foil stickers, dry decals, and tetron stickers. Three finishing options so you decide how finished it looks.
What's in the box
- 13 runners (includes colour-separation runners for the Dober Gun, armour, and frame parts)
- Dober Gun with spring-loaded barrel
- Round shield (beam saber storage built in)
- 2 x beam saber effect parts
- 1/100 scale Zechs Marquise pilot figure
- Foil sticker sheet
- Dry decal sheet (Katoki-designed markings)
- Tetron sticker sheet
- Instruction manual
Compatible accessories
No display base is included with the kit. The Tallgeese's back thruster binders make it back-heavy in standing poses, and a display stand opens up the flying poses this suit is built for. For dynamic poses of the Dober Gun in action, pair the Tallgeese EW with a Bandai Action Base designed for 1/100 scale kits.

What to watch for
The back thruster binders are large and shift the kit's centre of gravity rearward, so the Tallgeese will struggle to stand on its own in dynamic poses. Multiple builders have noted this. For display, a stand behind the kit for support, or a proper action base for flying poses, sorts this completely. The ankle joints are another known weak point; the kit can topple in aggressive ground poses without some careful foot placement. The Dober Gun shoulder connection is firm but the gun doesn't hold its forward-aim stance under gravity. Using the gun's underbarrel grip in the hand alongside the shoulder mount locks it in much better. These are all known issues with the OZ-00MS design, not faults in this specific kit.
Builder tips: Panel line the frame before fitting the armour. The Dober Gun's spring is subtle. Don't expect it to fire, it's more of a recoil-simulation mechanism. Use the shoulder-mount arm AND the hand-grip together for the best Dober Gun pose. Pick up a stand before you build if you don't already have one.
Build notes
Snap-fit assembly throughout, no glue required. Nippers are essential for clean part removal. Sanding sticks and a hobby knife for nub cleanup. The dry decals reward patience; a decal-setting solution helps with placement. Recommended age 15+. Estimated build time 10-15 hours for a clean build with minimal panel lining; longer if you go for the full decal sheet.
