Kotobukiya Busou Shinki x Megami Device Type Evil Strarf

Kotobukiya Busou Shinki x Megami Device Type Evil Strarf

The Kotobukiya Busou Shinki x Megami Device Type Evil Strarf is a plastic model kit bringing the jet-black mechanical devil from the classic Busou Shinki series into the modern Megami Device format, featuring the updated Machinika body designed by Masaki Apsy himself, three pre-painted facial expressions by Amaai, and a full combat gear loadout including exoskeleton armour, knives, grenade launcher, and handgun. Standing approximately 20cm tall when completed, Evil Strarf can be built in Armed Mode with her full gear or Unarmed Mode without it, and the Megami Device-based parts configuration means she's directly interchangeable with existing Megami Device kits. This is a genuine crossover release that bridges the original Busou Shinki MMS body design with modern Megami Device engineering standards.

This kit is designed for intermediate builders and features snap-fit assembly with no glue required for the main construction.

What sets the Evil Strarf kit apart is the combination of Masaki Apsy's updated Machinika body - which specifically recreates the articulation style of the original MMS body including the pull-out hip joint and uniaxial knee joints - with the full Megami Device parts ecosystem compatibility. The hip joint structure allows Evil Strarf to sit while hugging her knees, a pose that was a signature of the original Busou Shinki line. Three pre-painted face expressions designed by Amaai are included, and decals cover the eyes and additional markings. The removable CSC chest armour adds a further display configuration option. For long-time Busou Shinki fans, 3.3mm expansion joints are included for compatibility with older Busou Shinki parts (user adjustment may be required). The 3mm joint system also connects to M.S.G, Frame Arms, Frame Arms Girl, Hexa Gear, Sousai Shojo Teien, and Aracanadea parts.

What Makes This Kit Special

  • Machinika Body by Masaki Apsy: Updated from the original MMS body by the original designer - pull-out hip joint, uniaxial knee joints, and the signature knee-hugging sit pose
  • Three Pre-Painted Face Expressions: Designed by Amaai - no painting required for the face detail
  • Armed Mode and Unarmed Mode: Full gear configuration or clean unarmed display - two distinct looks from one kit
  • Full Combat Gear Loadout: Exoskeleton armour, knives, grenade launcher, handgun, and removable CSC chest armour
  • Megami Device Parts Interchangeable: Parts configuration based on Megami Device kits for direct cross-kit customisation
  • Busou Shinki Legacy Compatibility: 3.3mm expansion joints included for use with older Busou Shinki parts (user adjustment may be required)
  • Broad 3mm Ecosystem Compatibility: Compatible with M.S.G, Frame Arms, Frame Arms Girl, Hexa Gear, Sousai Shojo Teien, and Aracanadea via 3mm joints

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a brand new model or a reimagining of the original Type Evil Strarf?

The 1/1 Busou Shinki x Megami Device Type Evil Strarf is actually a collaboration between two popular model kit lines, bringing the jet-black mechanical devil from Busou Shinki into the world of Megami Device.
