What is the Gundam Marker Metallic Violet?

What kind of tip does it have?

An angled, flat tip cut on the diagonal. Turning the pen changes whether you paint a broad area or a fine detail.

What paint can I use it with?

It is an alcohol-based paint. GSI Creos says it can go directly onto bare polystyrene (PS) plastic, Mr. Color and Acrysion paints, but not onto Mr. Hobby Aqueous paints. Painting over a layer of alcohol-based Gundam Marker paint can reactivate the layer below.

Is it safe on every part of a kit?

Not on ABS resin parts. The maker warns the paint can soak into ABS, making parts brittle and liable to crack, so check your kit's instructions and runners and avoid painting ABS parts.

Can I use it with the Gundam Marker Airbrush System?

Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
