Does this hold my Gunpla itself, or just the weapons?

Just the weapons and accessories. It's built to display beam rifles, swords, shields and other gear separately from your mobile suit, so pair it with an Action Base if you also want to pose the kit itself.

Will it fit weapons from my HG and MG kits?

Yes. The short and long arms are sized to handle everything from small HG 1/144 sabres up to bigger MG 1/100 rifles and swords, so most Gunpla weapons should have a home here.

Can I connect more than one set together?

Yes. The bases are designed to link up, so if one set isn't enough for your growing weapon collection you can add a second Weapon Display Base 01 and expand the display.

Does it need glue or paint?

No. It's a snap-fit plastic base, the arms clip onto the bases and the joints adjust by hand, so there's no cement or paint involved.

Is this suitable for a beginner, or do I need experience?

It's genuinely beginner-friendly. Snapping the arms and bases together takes a few minutes and the angle of each arm can be adjusted afterwards to suit whatever weapon you're displaying.

Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
