Marida Cruz's black lion of the Sleeves
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee is the Earth Federation's second UC Project unit, built by Anaheim Electronics alongside the original Unicorn Gundam. Where the Unicorn takes its motif from its namesake, the Banshee wears a black lion's mane in gold. For most of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn it's piloted by Marida Cruz of the Sleeves, before passing to Riddhe Marcenas.
This SD Gundam Cross Silhouette release packs both the compact SD frame and the taller, more proportionate CS frame into one box, plus the full armed armour set to build either Banshee or Banshee Norn in Destroy Mode.
Build difficulty
Skill Level 1: snap-fit, no cement, no paint needed. Bandai rates this one as approachable for a first-time builder as well as someone who just wants a quick, satisfying build.
Swapping between the SD and CS frame, or between the Banshee and Banshee Norn loadouts, means partially pulling the kit apart and rebuilding sections rather than just clicking new parts on. Worth knowing going in, though it's a straightforward process either way.
Technical highlights
The armour is moulded in black and gold, with translucent orange parts for the psycho-frame that shows through the joints and chest when the armour opens in Destroy Mode. No paint is needed to get this look. The CS frame is built for sharper articulation than a standard SD kit, holding dynamic action poses without the armed armour pieces working loose.

What to watch for
A couple of independent Japanese build reviews turned up for this kit. Both found the SD-to-CS frame swap straightforward, even though it means partially disassembling the kit to switch between Banshee and Banshee Norn. Armed armour pieces were reported to stay locked in place through dynamic posing rather than popping loose, and the CS frame's joints were specifically praised for holding action poses well. One reviewer noted a single tight joint connecting Armed Armor DE on their sample, easily adjusted by hand. The 3D metallic stickers for Armed Armor BS were called out as noticeably thicker and more rigid than a typical decal, sitting flush rather than looking stuck on.
Worth knowing before you buy: this set builds Destroy Mode only. It doesn't cover the masked Unicorn Mode; that needs the separate SD BB Senshi version. The Beam Magnum barrel also doesn't telescope out of the box.
Builder tips: the beam saber blades and Beam Magnum barrel are moulded in a single colour, so a couple of reviewers added paint here for extra detail. That's entirely optional on a kit that's designed to look complete straight off the runner.
Build notes
No cement or paint is needed to finish this kit, it's a snap-fit build straight off the runner. A pair of nippers is the only tool you really need, per the Skill Level 1 guide below. There's no LED or battery in this kit. True to its Skill Level 1 rating, expect a short build session rather than a big weekend project. Recommended for ages 8 and up, per Bandai's packaging.
