Bandai 30MF Rosan Wizard

A lightning mage from the 30 Minutes Fantasy line

The 30MF Rosan Wizard is Bandai's lightning-element caster for the 30 Minutes Fantasy line, and it comes as a full starter set: the articulated Silhouette body, dark hooded armour, hands and a magic staff in the one box. Black frame, brown armour and yellow bands, so it reads as a spellcaster the moment it hits the shelf.

It suits anyone who wants a poseable fantasy figure that goes together without fuss, and it is the body Bandai's Rosan Sorcerer and Rosan Enchanter class-up sets are designed to build on.

Build difficulty

This is a snap-fit kit with parts moulded in colour, so there is no glue or painting needed to finish it. Bandai rates it 15+ on the box. You will want a pair of nippers to take the parts off the runners, and a hobby knife or sanding stick for the nub marks. Bandai's product page does not list a part count or build time, so I won't guess at one.

Technical highlights

The Silhouette body is built for posing. Bandai gives the head and neck movable axes so the chin can tuck in or the face can push forward, and the shoulder joints are designed to hold the body line in bold poses. The chest, torso and waist all have movable axes, with a sliding mechanism at the base of the waist joint working alongside them. The shoulder and waist armour attach through a joint on the back, which Bandai says gives the armour flexible movement. Compared with the 30MF Rosan Knight (sold separately), the Rosan Wizard's Silhouette is the slimmer of the two.

What makes this kit special

  • Complete starter set: body, armour, hands and magic staff in one box.
  • Slimmer Silhouette: a sleeker body than the Rosan Knight, for more agile casting-style poses.
  • Head and neck articulation: movable axes let you tuck the chin or push the face forward.
  • Waist slide mechanism: works with the chest, torso and waist axes for natural poses.
  • Back-mounted armour joints: the shoulder and waist armour attach through the back joint for flexible movement.
  • Lightning Element Core: the Rosan Wizard's element is lightning, and its face design and colouring differ from the Liber Wizard (sold separately).
  • Class-up path: the Rosan Sorcerer and Rosan Enchanter armour sets are designed to combine with this kit.

What to watch for

Written review coverage of this specific kit is thin (it only released in September 2025), so this section leans on a small amount of builder discussion in the 30MF community groups and r/30_Minutes_Missions, plus the line's general reputation.

  • No effect part in the box: one builder in a 30MF community group said the kit looks a little plain without a lightning effect and added a separately sold effect set. Bandai's contents list does not include an effect part. That is one builder's view, not a consensus.
  • Joint feel: a reviewer of the sister Liber Wizard (a separate kit) described the joints as stiff. That is one reviewer on a different kit, so treat it as a general heads-up for 30MF bodies rather than a confirmed fault here.
  • Posing: one r/30_Minutes_Missions thread about the 30MF line describes the kits as great to pose.

Build notes

Snap-fit, no glue and no paint required. Bring a pair of nippers and, if you like a clean finish, a hobby knife or sanding stick for the nub marks. Recommended age 15+. Bandai's product page does not list a build time.

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in the box?

The Silhouette body, a magic staff, one set of armour parts, one set of hand parts and one set of joint parts, plus the instructions. It is a starter set, so the body and the armour come together.

Do I need glue or paint?

No. It is snap-fit with parts moulded in colour. You will want a pair of nippers to remove the parts from the runners, and a hobby knife or sanding stick if you like to clean up the nub marks.

Is it suitable for a first-time builder?

Bandai rates it 15+ on the box. The build is snap-fit with no glue or paint, which makes it approachable, but Bandai's product page does not list a part count or build time, so I would not promise a specific number of minutes.

Can I class it up later?

Yes. Bandai's Class Up Armor (Rosan Sorcerer) and Class Up Armor (Rosan Enchanter) are designed to combine with the Rosan Wizard. Each is sold separately.

How is it different from the Liber Wizard?

Bandai gives the Rosan Wizard a different face design and colouring from the Liber side of the line, and a lightning Element Core where the Liber Wizard's is ice. Both are sold separately.
