Bandai 1/144 HGBF Hyper Gyanko Tateo Sazaki's Mobile Suit
Tateo Sazaki's Hyper Gyanko, in 1/144 High Grade
Hyper Gyanko is the custom Gunpla Tateo Sazaki built in Gundam Build Fighters: Battlogue. It is modelled on his sister Kaoruko Sazaki, known as Gyanko from Gundam Build Fighters Try, and on the Zeon YMS-15 Gyan. The result is a twin-tailed character kit with a pair of Gyan-style missile shields riding on flexible arms at the back.
This is a character kit rather than a standard mobile suit, so it suits Build Fighters fans, collectors working through the Sazaki family and anyone who likes a girl-kit with some Zeon detailing in the armour.
Build difficulty
Bandai rates the kit for ages 8 and over, and it is a standard High Grade build made up of 11 moulded parts sets. Retailer listings describe it as no glue required, so a pair of nippers and a hobby knife for gate clean-up is all you need. It sits at Skill Level 2 for complexity. The hair is built from front and back halves, so expect to deal with a seam line there if you want a smooth finish.
Technical highlights
The chest and leg joints use KPS material for a wider pose range, and the skirt armour can be taken apart so it stays out of the way of the legs. The eyes can be built with a clear part or with stickers. Colour separation is strong: one builder review lists the eyes, the hair accessory and the collar mark as the only places stickers are needed. The two beam sabers are moulded in a single yellow with no colour separation, so painting them is a builder's choice. The rest of the kit is moulded in colour.
What makes this kit special
-
Missile shields on flexible arms: two Gyan-style shields mount to the back on flexible arms that move independently, and they can also be held in the hand using the supplied mount parts.
-
Clear-part or sticker eyes: choose between a clear eye part that looks different from each angle or a sticker eye, whichever you prefer.
-
Twin tails that rotate: the hair accessory copies the Gyan's missile shield and the tails turn freely for different poses.
-
KPS joints in the chest and legs: Bandai specifies KPS material here for a wider pose range.
-
Removable skirt armour: Bandai designed the skirt armour to come apart so it does not get in the way of the legs.
-
Display base in the box: a runnerless stand with a support post connects to the underside of the backpack.

What to watch for
-
Shoulders can pop out in big poses: several builders report the shoulder ball joints coming off the body during wide poses, so the pose range is easier to use gently.
-
Some builders report loose hand parts and skirt pieces: several found the back-of-hand parts fall off when holding a shield, and one reported the side and rear skirt pieces dropping off as the legs move.
-
Seam lines on the limbs: two reviewers noted seam lines on the arms and lower legs. One builder reported no serious seams, so your result may vary.
-
Small feet: reviewers found it hard to balance on a flat surface without help, which is where the included display base earns its place.
-
Leg movement is limited: reviewers describe a narrow range at the thighs, so the legs do not swing as widely as on many High Grade kits.
Builder tips: leave the hair seam in place if you like the look, as one reviewer felt it reads as detail.
Build notes
Listed as no glue required. Nippers and a hobby knife are all you need for clean-up. Bandai recommends the kit for ages 8 and over.
