Bandai 1/100 MG Concept-X 6-1-2 Turn X

Bandai 1/100 MG Concept-X 6-1-2 Turn X

The Bandai 1/100 MG Concept-X 6-1-2 Turn X is a Master Grade model kit recreating Gim Ginganam's iconic rival mobile suit from βˆ€ Gundam (Turn A Gundam), featuring one of the most distinctive engineering gimmicks in the MG lineup - a body that separates into 9 independent units to recreate the Turn X's all-range attack. The Turn X is the antagonist counterpart to the Turn A Gundam, sharing the same ancient Black History origins but with an asymmetric, alien design that makes it one of the most visually unusual mobile suits in the Gundam franchise. This MG delivers the Turn X's signature features: the X-scar chest, the Shining Finger right hand, separating body units, and a dedicated display stand for aerial poses.

This kit is designed for intermediate to advanced builders and features Master Grade snap-fit assembly with no glue required.

What sets the MG Turn X apart from virtually every other MG kit is the 9-part body separation system that recreates the all-range attack. The body separates into independent units - head, torso, arms, legs, and backpack components - each of which can be individually posed and displayed as if in mid-attack formation. Each separated unit can also be transformed into its own configuration. The Shining Finger on the right hand is reproduced through a movable action mechanism, and the X-scar on the chest is faithfully recreated as the Turn X's defining visual symbol. The beam bazooka and beam rifle both store on the backpack for clean display configurations. A dedicated display stand is included to hold the Turn X in an aerial pose. This is best suited for βˆ€ Gundam fans who want the definitive Turn X kit and MG collectors who appreciate unusual engineering gimmicks.

What Makes This Kit Special

Mobile Suit Turn A Gundam Series

"Mobile Suit Turn A Gundam" revolutionizes the mecha genre. Set in a future where Earth has regressed, it presents the past's technologically advanced relics clashing with a simpler society. Its narrative, centered around Loran Cehack and the Turn A Gundam, emphasizes the consequences of war, and it uniquely bridges all...

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 9-part body separation gimmick and how does it work?

The Turn X's body separates into 9 independent units - head, torso, arms, legs, and backpack components - that can be individually posed and displayed as if in mid all-range attack formation. Each separated unit can also be transformed into its own configuration. The included display stand holds the main body in an aerial pose while the separated units are arranged around it for a dramatic all-range attack display.

Does this kit include a display stand, or do I need to buy an Action Base separately?

A dedicated display stand is included in the box - no Action Base required. The special stand is designed specifically for the Turn X and holds it in an aerial pose. This is one of the few MG kits that comes with its own display stand as standard.

What is the Shining Finger and how is it reproduced on this kit?

The Shining Finger is the Turn X's signature weapon - a powerful energy attack delivered through the right hand. On this kit it's reproduced through a movable action mechanism on the right hand that allows you to pose the Shining Finger in its activated configuration. It's the Turn X's counterpart to the Turn A Gundam's Moonlight Butterfly.

Do I need the Turn A Gundam kit to display this, or does it work as a standalone?

The Turn X works perfectly as a standalone display piece - the included display stand means it's self-sufficient right out of the box. That said, it pairs naturally with the MG Turn A Gundam and the P-Bandai MG Turn A Gundam Moonlight Butterfly as the rival pair from the βˆ€ Gundam series. Both are available at Mecha Express if you want the complete set.

How difficult is this kit compared to a standard MG?

The Turn X is more complex than a standard MG due to the 9-part body separation gimmick and the multiple transformable units. If you've built a few MG kits before you'll be well prepared, but this isn't the best first MG due to the separation system requiring careful part management. Intermediate to advanced builders will find it a rewarding and genuinely unusual build experience.
