This is Amida Arca's personal Hyakuren, the lead Turbines mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Season 2. Amida is the second-in-command of the Turbines and one of the most respected pilots in the series, and her custom Hyakuren carries the distinctive purple and gold scheme that marks her command status. The Hyakuren itself is the Turbines' standard mobile suit — a Calamity War-era unit refurbished for modern service — and Amida's variant adds a personalised paint job along with the heavier weapons load she favours.

What to Watch For

Independent build coverage on this specific variant is thin. A general web search plus a targeted Reddit and YouTube sweep turned up retailer listings and the manufacturer's own product copy (which confirms the newly sculpted assault rifle and standard rifle and blade are included) but no dedicated build reviews at time of writing. On the standard Hyakuren platform this variant shares its frame with, the gold accent parts on the shoulder markings are small and can be brittle on the attachment tabs, so take care removing them from the runner.

Builder Tips: Panel lining on the mauve and maroon armour brings out the layered Hyakuren plating. A black panel line marker works across both tones without flattening either colour. A satin topcoat unifies the foil sticker and bare plastic finish.

Assembly Guide

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED
Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.
No Cement Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

No Painting Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

No, unfortunately, the 1/144 HGIBO Hyakuren - Amida doesn't transform into the powerful Graze Ein like it does in Iron-Blooded Orphans. This kit focuses on the mobile suit form piloted by Amida Arca.

How's the articulation compared to other HGIBO kits?

The Hyakuren - Amida features decent articulation for an HG kit, allowing for good range of movement in the arms, legs, and head. Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
