The Zaku (GQ), Zeon's mass-production workhorse in its GQuuuuuuX redesign
The Zaku (GQ) is the Principality of Zeon's standard mass-production mobile suit as seen in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, with the bulky, rounded leg design that sets it apart from the Zakus you know. Bandai released this HG kit on 8 November 2025 with a newly sculpted Zaku Bazooka.
It is a kit for army builders, GQuuuuuuX fans, and anyone who likes a green Zaku on the shelf.
Build difficulty
Skill Level 2. Bandai rates it 8+, and it is a snap-fit High Grade with no glue needed. One detailed Japanese review describes it as polycap-less with tight joints, no hollowed-out soles, and easy to build straight from the box, and recommends it for beginners and straight-build fans. The one fiddly job is the stickers: the yellow and white foil lines go on curved shoulder armour and are harder to apply neatly.
Technical highlights
The shoulder blocks move independently, the mono-eye slides left and right using a rib on the underside of the head, and the upper arms and forearms roll separately. The right shoulder carries an L-shaped shield that moves, and the left shoulder has spiked armour. The sole has a 3mm hole for a display stand. Colour separation on the torso is good. The pink mono-eye and the Zeon marking on the torso are stickers. Horned parts are included as a swap option.
What makes this kit special
-
New Zaku Bazooka: a newly sculpted launcher whose grip pulls out so it can be held with both hands.
-
Zaku Machine Gun: drum magazine detail and a movable foregrip for a two-handed hold.
-
Heat Hawk: moulded as a single grey part.
-
Independent shoulder blocks: the shoulders move on their own for more dynamic poses.
-
Movable mono-eye: slides left and right.
-
GQuuuuuuX leg design: the bulky rounded legs give it a different silhouette from earlier Zakus.

What to watch for
Drawing on one detailed Japanese review. English-language written coverage for this kit was thin when searched, so treat these as one reviewer's notes:
-
Leg movement is limited: the bulky thighs stop the legs moving as far as you might expect. Knees bend well and it kneels cleanly, but wide stances are restricted.
-
Waist front part can pop off: with a lot of posing the front waist part (near the white line) came loose. The reviewer suggests a dab of glue if it bothers you.
-
Stickers on curved armour: the yellow and white foil lines on the left shoulder are harder to apply neatly.
-
One open hand only: the kit includes an open palm for the left hand only.
Build notes
No glue or paint is required. Nippers are needed to remove parts from the runners. Recommended age: 8 and over.
