Bandai SD Gundam EX Standard Wing Gundam Zero EW
Wing Gundam Zero EW, the Endless Waltz angel-winged suit at SD size
This is the SD Gundam EX-Standard version of the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero in its Endless Waltz (EW) form, the Hajime Katoki redesign with the feather-like wings. Bandai's Japanese site lists it as No. 004 in the EX-Standard line, released in Japan in July 2016. It is a new sculpt with slimmer, longer-legged proportions than the older BB Senshi Wing Zero.
Build difficulty
Skill Level 1. It is a snap-fit kit with no glue, and Bandai rates it for ages 8 and up. One Japanese builder found no nippers were needed because the parts come off the runners by hand, and one English-language reviewer finished the build and the stickers in about an hour. Most of your time goes on the sticker sheet.
Technical highlights
- Moulded mainly in blue and white, with a yellow antenna and red face and soles, per one Japanese review. Stickers cover the head sensors, the shoulder armour and parts of the waist.
- Mostly polystyrene with polycap joints. The same review found no ABS or KPS parts.
- Ball-joint neck, shoulders and waist on a long-limbed body. One English-language reviewer rated the articulation among the best they had seen in SD and SD EX-Standard kits.
- Two large main wings and a rear wing that can be repositioned, including a spread-wing arrangement.
- One joint part lets the rifle and wings be recombined into larger original weapon configurations. Reviewers show four to five arrangements.
What makes this kit special
-
Endless Waltz Wing Zero: the Katoki-style feathered wings are the centrepiece, in a new EX-Standard sculpt.
-
Twin Buster Rifle: the suit's signature weapon is included, held by a grip in the hand.
-
Original weapon builds: a joint part turns the rifle and wings into custom weapon shapes that are not in the anime.
-
HG parts compatibility: Bandai describes the EX-Standard line as compatible with the HG series for parts-swap customising.
-
Display peg: a builder confirms it mounts on a standard Action Base using a 3mm shaft in the crotch.
What's in the box
- Five runners and one polycap runner, per one reviewer
- Twin Buster Rifle, moulded as one piece
- One joint part for the original weapon configurations
- Marking sticker sheet
Not included: a display stand.
Compatible accessories
No display base is included with the kit. For flying poses with the wings spread, pair it with the Bandai Action Base 1. One builder review confirms the kit mounts on an Action Base through a 3mm shaft in the crotch.

What to watch for
Drawing on one Japanese-language review, two English-language reviews and an r/Gunpla thread. Treat the single-reviewer points as notes rather than confirmed faults:
- Stickers do much of the colour work. Two reviewers say the kit leans on them, and some small areas such as the sensors, forearm wing tips and the backpack arm want paint if you want full accuracy. It still looks right built straight.
- The Twin Buster Rifle is moulded as one piece, so it cannot split into two buster rifles. Two reviewers noted this.
- Two reviewers noted hollow areas on the backs of the legs, forearms and shoulders, and inside the wing mount.
- Ball joints can come loose when posing. One Japanese builder had the backpack fall off and suggests reinforcing the joints if that bothers you, although the same review found the rifle held firmly by its grip.
- The wings have a limited, stiff range and cannot fold fully shut in front, per two reviewers. One builder found it slightly rear-heavy, although the rear wing helps it stand.
The English-language reviews are positive on the sculpt and articulation. One r/Gunpla poster described it as the first disappointment of a build and said the legs splay apart.
Build notes
No glue. Nippers are not required per one builder. Panel lining and paint are optional extras, and one reviewer recommends them over the stickers. It mounts on a stand through a 3mm shaft in the crotch. Suitable for ages 8 and up per Bandai.
