Bandai Figure-rise Standard Amplified MetalGarurumon (Digimon Adventure)

MetalGarurumon in Amplified detail, Gabumon's Mega form

This is the Figure-rise Standard Amplified MetalGarurumon, the cybernetic wolf from Digimon Adventure built in Bandai's Amplified line, the higher-detail redesign that sharpens the proportions and pushes the colour separation over the standard kit. It is a snap-fit model kit moulded in colour that builds into a fully posable, four-legged MetalGarurumon with clear energy-wing effects, an opening jaw and its special-move Finisher effects.

Build difficulty

It is a snap-fit kit, so no glue and no paint are needed for a standard build, and the colour is moulded in. The Amplified kits carry a higher part count and more colour-separated pieces than the plainer figures, so set aside a bit more time, but nothing here needs advanced technique. A pair of nippers for clean runner removal is the tool worth having, and there is a fair amount of foil-sticker detail to apply patiently.

Technical highlights

The Amplified redesign is the headline: intense colour separation reproduced through individual moulded parts (lavender, blue and magenta accents) rather than paint, plus a whole host of clear parts for the wings and the special-move effects. The jaw opens to reveal a sculpted tongue and teeth, the fingers are posable, and the four-legged frame moves through a wide, beast-like range across the shoulders, legs and tail. A full action base with a connector joint is included so you can lift MetalGarurumon into leaping and flying poses.

What makes this kit special

  • Amplified redesign: the sharper, higher-detail take on MetalGarurumon with intense colour separation moulded into the plastic.
  • Clear Finisher effect parts: clear parts for the energy wings and the special-move effects, no paint required.
  • Opening jaw: the mouth opens and closes to show the sculpted tongue and teeth.
  • Included action base: a full stand with a connector joint for dynamic leaping and flying poses.
  • Snap-fit, moulded in colour: no glue or paint needed for a clean, colour-separated build.

What's in the box

  • Snap-fit parts runners for Amplified MetalGarurumon, moulded in colour with strong colour separation
  • Clear effect parts for the energy wings and the special-move Finisher poses
  • Included action base with a connector joint
  • Foil sticker sheet
  • Instruction sheet

Compatible accessories

A full action base is included, so no separate stand is needed. The useful add-ons are the basics: a sharp pair of nippers, a hobby knife for nub cleanup, and a panel-line marker to sharpen the mechanical detail on the metallic parts.

Build your Digimon collection

After the simpler, lower-cost build instead? Mecha Express also stocks the standard Bandai Figure-rise Standard MetalGarurumon (Digimon Adventure), the plainer kit that reproduces the Beam Wing as a removable PET-sheet effect.

What to watch for

Based on verified builder reviews of this kit:

  • It leans on stickers. A fair amount of the fine detail is handled by the foil sticker sheet rather than moulded parts, so take your time applying them cleanly.
  • The open jaw limits the neck. The opening mouth is a great gimmick, but with the jaw fully open the head does not tilt as far, so pick the pose you want.
  • Nub cleanup shows on the metallic parts. Gate marks read at a distance on the bright, plated-look plastic, so a sharp knife and patience pay off.

Builder tip: a panel-line wash in the recessed mechanical detail makes the Amplified sculpt really pop.

Build notes

No cement or paint required, this is a snap-fit kit moulded in colour. A pair of nippers is the main tool worth having, and a foil sticker sheet handles the fine markings. A satisfying build for anyone who has done a kit or two, and manageable for a patient newer builder. Recommended age 15 and up.

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a finished figure or a model kit?

It's a snap-fit model kit you assemble yourself. It's moulded in colour with strong colour separation, so no paint is needed, and no glue is required for a standard build.

What's included in the box?

The snap-fit runners for Amplified MetalGarurumon (moulded in colour), clear effect parts for the energy wings and the special-move Finisher poses, a full action base with a connector joint, and a foil sticker sheet.

How is this different from the standard MetalGarurumon kit?

This is the Amplified version, Bandai's higher-detail line. It has a sharper redesign, stronger colour separation, clear Finisher effect parts and an included action base. The standard Figure-rise Standard MetalGarurumon is a simpler, lower-cost kit. Mecha Express stocks both.

Is it posable?

Yes. The four legs, shoulders and tail move through a wide range for beast-like poses, the fingers are posable, and the jaw opens to show the tongue and teeth. The included action base holds the more dynamic leaping poses.

Does it come with a stand?

Yes. A full action base with a connector joint is included, so you can lift MetalGarurumon into leaping and flying poses straight out of the box, no separate stand needed.
