Two kits, one machine, and the sword from the last fight
The 00 Gundam on its own is already Setsuna's best machine. Dock the 0 Raiser onto its back and it becomes the 00 Raiser, the twin-drive configuration the whole second season builds towards. This set gives you both kits in one box, plus the GN Sword III with its clear pink beam effect part, which is the weapon from the final battle.
It is a lot of plastic for one purchase and it is regularly named as one of the best kits in the HG 00 line.
Build difficulty
You are building two kits here, so budget accordingly, but neither is difficult. Both are snap-fit and moulded in colour with no glue or paint required, and the 00 Gundam is fully articulated on polycap joints. The docking mechanism between the two is the interesting part of the assembly. Comfortable for anyone with a few builds behind them.
Technical highlights
The 0 Raiser docks with the 00 Gundam exactly as it does in the show, so you can display them as two separate machines or as the combined 00 Raiser. The weapon set is deep: two GN Sword IIs and one GN Sword III, and each of those switches into rifle form, becoming GN Rifle IIs and a GN Rifle III respectively. You also get two GN beam sabers and a shield. The GN Sword III comes with a clear pink beam effect part. A black stand is included in the box to help hold the finished model in mid-air poses.
What makes this kit special
-
Two complete kits in one box: the HG 00 Gundam and the HG 0 Raiser, which dock together to form the 00 Raiser.
-
GN Sword III with pink beam effect: the final-battle weapon, with the clear effect part included.
-
Swords that become rifles: both GN Sword IIs and the GN Sword III switch into rifle form rather than being fixed blades.
-
Stand included: a black display stand comes in the box for mid-air posing.
-
Real docking mechanism: the 0 Raiser attaches properly rather than being a fixed backpack.
-
Full polycap articulation: the 00 Gundam poses freely once built.

Compatible accessories
A black display stand is included with this set, so you can get it airborne straight away. If you want a second stand so the 00 Gundam and 0 Raiser can be displayed as separate machines at the same time, the Bandai Action Base 2 is the standard 1/144 display stand.
Build your Gundam 00 collection
Setsuna's next and final machine is the Qan[T], and the Bandai 1/144 HG00 QAN[T] (Quanta) is in stock at the same scale.
In Master Grade, the Bandai MG 1/100 00 Raiser and the Bandai 1/100 MG 00 Qan[T] are both available.

What to watch for
I did not find a repeated, independently confirmed fault with this set, and the sentiment is unusually positive. One reviewer describes it as the final battle variant with a huge amount of weaponry, beam effects and the 0 Raiser included. Another calls it one of the best 00 kits and still their favourite in the line. A builder who put one together simply described it as a very fun build.
The one practical thing to plan for is space and time. You are assembling two kits, and once the 0 Raiser is docked the combined machine has a much wider footprint than a normal High Grade, so think about where it is going before you start.
Builder tips: build the 00 Gundam first and satisfy yourself it poses properly before you dock the 0 Raiser, since the combined form is harder to work on. Use the included black stand for anything with the GN Sword III deployed, because the beam effect part adds length and leverage. Keep the two GN Sword IIs and the single GN Sword III clearly separated during the build, they are easy to confuse.
Build notes
No glue and no paint required. Nippers, a hobby knife and sanding sticks. Expect around two and a half to three hours across both kits. Recommended age 15 and over.
