The autonomous Dawn of Fold drone, the WFM grunt suit built around the Lfrith pilots' GUND format
The EDM-GB Gundvölva is an unmanned mobile suit fielded by Dawn of Fold. The GUND format is built directly into the cockpit, letting the Lfrith Ur and Lfrith Thorn pilots control swarms of these suits as remote weapons. By the end of Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch from Mercury, the Gundvölva is the antagonist mass-production unit you see deployed across the major battles.
The kit captures that mass-produced military silhouette: dark teal armour, grey detail panels, beam rifle and shield as the primary loadout. It's the cheapest HG in the WFM range and the easiest to grab in multiples if you want to build a squad.
Build difficulty
Standard HG 1/144 snap-fit. Bandai rate it age 8 and over. Mecha Express tags it both beginner and intermediate: a confident first-timer can finish it in a sitting, and intermediate builders pick it as a relaxing palette-cleanser between bigger builds. Expect 1 to 2 hours at a relaxed pace for a clean snap. No glue. No paint required.
Technical highlights
Ball joints at the neck and waist are spaced to allow forward and backward leaning postures. Side armour uses a movable axis with ball joints for a wider waist range. The beam saber grip and the beam rifle magazine both store behind the shield, keeping the silhouette clean when the weapons aren't in hand. The beam rifle itself can attach and detach from the leg. The kit ships with the standard HG hand parts set, beam rifle, beam saber, and shield.
What makes this kit special
-
WFM's mass-production grunt suit. If you want to build a Dawn of Fold squad, this is the kit. The price point makes multiples reasonable.
-
Shield-mounted weapon storage. Beam saber grip and beam rifle magazine both stow behind the shield for clean off-hand display.
-
Leg-mount for the beam rifle. When you don't want the rifle in hand, it clips to the side of the leg.
-
Wider waist articulation. Side armour on a movable axis gives the kit more poseable range than most basic-spec HG mass-production units.
-
Lean, clean build. Low part count, snap-fit assembly, no gimmicks to fight with. A solid relaxing build.

Compatible kits and accessories
This is a mobile suit kit, not an accessory. The Gundvölva uses the standard 3 mm back-mount socket, so it pairs with the standard Bandai action base system.
No display base is included with the kit. For dynamic poses or for displaying a Gundvölva squad in formation, pair the kits with the Bandai Action Base 2, the standard 1/144 display stand. The Witch from Mercury Display Base is the matching series accessory.

What to watch for
The Gundvölva is a basic-spec HG mass-production kit with no significant build weaknesses flagged by independent reviewers. The simplicity is the point.
Builder Tips. A dark grey or black panel line marker brings out the angular armour seams without dirtying the lighter teal panels. The shield reads better with a thin coat of matte top coat. If you're building multiple Gundvölvas for a squad display, slight differences in panel line tone or weathering on each unit help them feel like individual machines rather than identical clones.
Build notes
No glue required for the standard build, this is snap-fit. A basic Gunpla tool kit (sharp side cutters or nippers, a hobby knife for clean-up, a panel line marker) is recommended though not essential. Allow 1 to 2 hours total build time at a relaxed pace, longer if you panel line or weather. Recommended age 8 and over per the Bandai box.
