Chuchu's loaned prototype, the boxy Destroid-flavoured Gundam from Earth House
The MSJ-R122 Demi Barding is the prototype concept model Burion built without profitability in mind, then loaned to Chuatury Panlunch when her own Demi Trainer was destroyed in the Asticassia attack. Chuchu pilots it from episode 20 onwards, including the run on Quiet Zero in the final act of Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch from Mercury.
The design lands somewhere between a Guncannon and a Macross Destroid: utilitarian, boxy, all about the silhouette of that oversized Baori Pack on the back. The kit is for builders who want a fun, fast WFM build that still gives them something distinctive on the shelf next to the Aerial line.
Build difficulty
Standard HG 1/144 snap-fit. Bandai rate it age 8 and over, which puts it within reach of newcomers to the hobby. Mecha Express tags it both beginner and intermediate: a confident first-timer can finish it in a sitting, and an intermediate builder will appreciate the Baori Pack engineering. Builders consistently call it a quick build, with one independent reviewer finishing it in an hour or two. No glue. No paint required to look right out of the box.
Technical highlights
The Baori Pack is the engineering centrepiece. The expandable flight unit attaches to the back with articulated beam cannons that pivot to fire over the shoulder or under the arm, and the whole pack can be detached and displayed as an independent flight unit. The leg-mounted Flexible Booster units pivot forward to store the two beam sabers when not in use. The Beam Rifle Plus has a movable auxiliary grip on the sensor scope, letting Chuchu hold it one-handed, two-handed, or braced. Fist Vulcans are moulded into the back of each manipulator for suppressive fire. Build stability is consistently rated as solid across independent reviews.
What makes this kit special
-
Detachable Baori Pack flight unit. The oversized backpack pivots, articulates, and fully separates from the suit to be displayed as its own flight platform. The articulated beam cannons reposition for over-the-shoulder or under-the-arm fire.
-
Movable auxiliary grip on the Beam Rifle Plus. A second handle on the sensor scope swings out, giving the kit one-handed, two-handed, and braced-fire grip options without swapping hand parts.
-
Storable beam sabers in the leg thrusters. The Flexible Booster units on the lower legs articulate forward to dock both beam saber hilts when they aren't in use. Tidy display detail, distinctive to this kit.
-
Quick, satisfying build. Builders consistently report finishing it in a sitting. Low part-stress engineering carried over from the Demi Trainer line.
-
Earth House identity. The boxy Destroid-influenced silhouette gives Earth House a kit that visually reads as the working-class machine of the WFM cast, distinct from the Aerial line.

Compatible kits and accessories
This is a mobile suit kit, not an accessory. The Demi Barding uses the standard 3 mm back-mount socket on the Baori Pack rail, so it pairs with the standard Bandai action base posing system.
No display base is included with the kit. For dynamic poses of the detached Baori Pack or the suit in flight configurations, pair the Demi Barding with the Bandai Action Base 2, the standard 1/144 display stand. The separately-sold Witch from Mercury Display Base is the matching series accessory if you want a themed stand for your WFM shelf.

What to watch for
Based on verified builder feedback from independent reviewers and Mecha Express customers, no significant build weaknesses have been flagged. Builds clean. Pose stability is consistently rated as solid. Colour separation handles the Earth House dirty-gold and green scheme without colour-correcting stickers on the main armour.
Builder Tips. A black or dark grey panel line marker brings out the angular armour seams without dirtying the lighter gold panels. The Baori Pack rewards a thin top coat (matte or semi-gloss) if you want to take the military aesthetic further, but it reads well straight from the runner. When detaching the Baori Pack for independent display, support its tail end on an action base arm so the front doesn't tip.
Build notes
No glue required for the standard build, this is snap-fit. A basic Gunpla tool kit (sharp side cutters or nippers, a hobby knife for clean-up, a panel line marker) is recommended though not essential. Allow 1 to 2 hours total build time at a relaxed pace, longer if you panel line or apply the sticker sheet carefully. Recommended age 8 and over per the Bandai box.
