Rita Bernal's Phenex, locked into Destroy Mode
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex made its animated debut in "Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative," piloted by Rita Bernal, a Newtype test pilot with the Earth Federation Space Forces whose consciousness merges with the mobile suit through its extensive Psycho-Frame coverage. This release captures Phenex in its clawed Destroy Mode, with the Narrative Ver. exclusive decal set that ties it to the film.
Phenex's Psycho-Frame is moulded straight into the plastic in gold, translucent blue and grey, so the metallic look comes from the parts themselves rather than paint.
Build difficulty
Rated Skill Level 1. Snap-fit assembly with no cement or paint needed to get the finish shown on the box. A straightforward build even with the Destroy Mode part-swaps and armed armour units factored in, and a fair pick for a first HGUC kit.
Technical highlights
Gold, translucent blue and grey moulded parts reproduce Phenex's Psycho-Frame finish without painting. The kit transforms into Destroy Mode, with a clawed right arm replacing the standard hand and twin Armed Armour units mounted for display. Posable across the usual HGUC joint range.

What to Watch For
Searches for build feedback specific to this Narrative Ver. release (r/Gunpla, YouTube HGUC Phenex reviews, Gunpla Wiki, hobby blogs) mostly turn up coverage of the original 2018 HGUC Phenex mould, which this kit shares. Builders on that shared mould note the gold-moulded parts can show slight sheen inconsistencies between runners under close light, and that the Destroy Mode claw swap is snug on first assembly but loosens with a couple of test-fits. Nothing rises to a product-wide fault, and the metallic finish is consistently rated as one of the stronger out-of-box looks in the HGUC line.
Builder Tips: Test-fit the Destroy Mode claw a couple of times before the final assembly, it seats better once the joint has been worked in.
Build Notes
No cement or paint required for the finish shown on the box, though panel lining will lift the gold detail further. Basic tool kit: nippers, hobby knife, tweezers for the smaller Armed Armour parts. A comfortable single-session build for most builders. Suited to age 15 and up.
