Motor Nuclear Blazing Stars MNP-CR01 Yuhengxing No.6 "Huan Ci"

Most of what's on this page is Gundam. This one isn't.

Motor Nuclear is a Chinese manufacturer building its own original mecha universe from scratch, called Legend of Star General, with a serialised manhua behind it rather than a Bandai licence. The Yuhengxing No.6, "Huan Ci," is one of that universe's star-general mechs, and it's built to the same general philosophy as the Gunpla on the rest of this site: snap-fit, no glue, no paint, moulded in colour. What's different is what's under the armour. Huan Ci runs a die-cast alloy inner frame rather than an all-plastic one, which is where the extra weight comes from, and its backpack splits down into weapons and flight units that reconfigure into two smaller stand-alone mecha on top of the usual robot mode.

If you build Gunpla for the engineering as much as the show, this is a genuine look at how someone outside Bandai approaches the same problem.

Build difficulty

Skill Level 2, snap-fit, no cement and no paint required. Don't read "no glue or paint" as "quick" though: one verified builder review logged roughly two days for the body and three more for the wings and weapons, call it the better part of a week, driven by part count rather than difficulty. Comfortable for an intermediate Gunpla builder. A first HG probably isn't the ideal warm-up given the sheer number of sub-assemblies.

One brand-level source flags crisp mould edges on Motor Nuclear's armour components generally, worth a side cutter and a light touch during clean-up rather than trimming with a knife. On the positive side, the die-cast alloy frame is reported to hold its joints better over time than an all-plastic equivalent. Budget real time for the build, one verified review logged the better part of a week across the body, wings and weapons.

Builder tip: use side cutters rather than a hobby knife when trimming parts from the runners, and don't rush the flight-pack sub-assemblies, that's where most of the part count sits.

Build notes

No glue needed. A good pair of side cutters is worth having given the sharp-edge note above. No paint required for a finished look. This is multi-material construction (plastic plus alloy), so some joints handle differently to an all-plastic Gunpla kit, follow the instructions for those specifically.

Assembly Guide

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED
Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.
No Cement Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

No Painting Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
