Mini Saiyans, straight from the Demon Realm

In Dragon Ball DAIMA, Gomah, the Supreme King of the Demon Realm, uses Earth's Dragon Balls to shrink Goku, Vegeta and the rest of the cast down into "Mini" versions of themselves, hoping to make them harmless. It doesn't work out that way. This kit puts that new Mini-form Goku and Vegeta on the shelf together, the first model kit release to capture their DAIMA-era look.

It's a pick-up-and-build piece rather than a project. If you want a Dragon Ball DAIMA display piece without a weekend of tools and paint, this is built for exactly that.

Build difficulty

This is one of the simplest builds in the Mecha Express range. The parts are pre-painted at the factory, including the facial detail, so there's no colour-matching or masking to worry about. Assembly is snap-fit: no cement, no paint. Most builders will be done well within the hour, and there's nothing here that should trouble a first-time builder.

Technical highlights

Face and body detail comes factory pre-painted rather than moulded-and-painted-later, which is why the finish looks clean straight out of the packaging. The display base is the more interesting engineering: a set of rocky, Demon Realm-style blocks that combine into three different height arrangements, with dedicated joint parts to lock each figure's feet to the base securely. Worth knowing upfront: this is a static display kit, not an articulated posing figure. There's no elbow, knee or torso articulation, the joints exist purely to anchor the figures to their base.

What to watch for

This is a static display kit, not a posable figure. If you're after a Goku or Vegeta you can pose in different stances, this isn't that kit, the joint parts are for anchoring the figures to the display base only. The base blocks are small and lightweight; stack them per the instructions for a stable display. The sticker sheet is small, so a pair of tweezers makes for cleaner placement.

Builder tip: dry-fit the base blocks in your preferred height arrangement before applying any stickers, so you know the final layout first.

Build notes

No glue and no paint required. A hobby knife or nippers make cleaner work of removing parts from the runner, and tweezers help with the stickers, but neither is essential. Expect a build time of well under an hour.

Assembly Guide

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED
Skill Level.1. Most adults & children can assemble Skill Level 1 kits with little to no difficulty. Very basic hobby tools are recommended including a pair of nippers, a hobby knife, but are not essential. No Glue is needed for these kits. Kits are all snap together build and most parts can be removed by twisting and pushing without the need to snip with nippers.
No Cement Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

No Painting Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
