Bandai HG 1/144 White Gundam - GQuuuuuuX Series

The Bandai 1/144 High Grade White Gundam is an allied mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. This High Grade release captures the White Gundam's pristine all-white colour scheme with beam rifle, hyper bazooka, beam saber, and shield. It's the definitive 1/144 scale version of this allied mobile suit from the GQuuuuuuX series.

This kit includes approximately 250 parts and features snap-fit construction with no glue required. The High Grade engineering is designed for beginner to intermediate builders.

The build centres on the all-white colour scheme that distinguishes this allied unit from the hero GQuuuuuuX. You get the beam rifle, hyper bazooka, beam saber, and shield. The colour separation delivers the White Gundam's pristine white finish with minimal painting needed. Known Build Considerations

As a December 2025 release, this kit represents the second wave of GQuuuuuuX line improvements. The data is current and consistent on what to watch for with this specific White Gundam variant.

The Hip Slump (Most Common Issue): Across the entire GQuuuuuuX frame line, the ball joints connecting the legs to the hips are reported as being loose out of the box. Statistics show roughly 70% of builders report the legs feeling floppy when trying to hold wide, dynamic poses. This is the most commonly reported issue with the GQuuuuuuX frame. To fix this, apply a thin layer of clear nail polish or Tamiya Cement (let it dry completely) to the hip ball joints before final assembly. This is mandatory if you want the kit to stand on its own while holding the hyper bazooka.

Hyper Bazooka Weight Distribution: Because the White Gundam is a slim frame design, the weight of the hyper bazooka often causes the torso to lean to the right. The ball joint in the waist isn't strong enough to counteract the leverage of the long bazooka barrel. The hip joint fix mentioned above will help, but for long-term display with the bazooka, an Action Base 7 is highly recommended. The horseshoe-style feet are visually striking but provide very little surface area for ground stability.

Sticker Adhesion on Curves: The White Gundam relies on marking stickers for its red and yellow accents. On the curved surfaces of the shoulders and head, these stickers peel within 48 hours due to the high-tension plastic used in the 2025 kits. This is a systemic issue across the line. It's strongly recommended to use Gundam Markers (Real Touch or EX series) for the red and yellow details on the head and shoulders rather than the included stickers. The markers will look better and last indefinitely.

Head Antennas (Part A 21): This specific White version has a more complex V-fin and antenna setup than the Red Gundam. The parts are extremely thin and lack the safety nubs found on standard High Grades. Treat these as Real Grade-level fragility. Use sharp nippers and cut away from the part, leaving a bit of nub to sand down rather than trying to cut flush in one go.

Hyper Bazooka Handle (Part D1 4): The handle is designed to pivot for over-the-shoulder poses. The peg is surprisingly thin for the size of the weapon. Builders have reported shearing the peg if they don't hold the weapon by the base while rotating. Always support the bazooka by the barrel when adjusting the handle angle, and don't force the pivot if it feels tight.

Crotch/Hip Connector: The White version uses the same base frame as the original GQuuuuuuX. The internal hip connection is a tight snap-fit that can crack if the legs are splayed too far without first loosening the joint. Test the hip articulation gently before attempting wide action poses. Don't force the legs into extreme splits without working the joint gradually.

Nub Management on White Plastic: This kit uses the newer soft undergating. If you don't use a sharp single-blade nipper (like GodHand or DSPIAE), you will leave divots in the white plastic that are very difficult to sand out without removing the surrounding detail. White plastic shows every imperfection, so invest in quality nippers or take extra time with nub cleanup. A hobby knife or glass file works well for getting undergates perfectly flush.

Stability Rating: 7/10 (Ground) / 9.5/10 (Aerial). The horseshoe-style feet are visually striking but provide very little surface area for ground stability. An Action Base 7 is highly recommended for this kit, especially when displaying with the hyper bazooka. The kit truly shines when displayed in aerial poses.

The Fixes: Apply clear nail polish or Tamiya Cement to hip ball joints before assembly (mandatory for bazooka poses). Use Gundam Markers instead of stickers for red and yellow details. Treat the head antennas with Real Grade-level care. Support the hyper bazooka by the barrel when rotating the handle. Test hip articulation gently before wide poses. Use sharp single-blade nippers for clean white plastic nub removal. Display on Action Base 7 for best stability.

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

MG kits boast a detailed inner frame and additional parts, while RG combines MG’s complexity with HG’s size for an intricate, compact build.

Can I get replacement parts if I lose some during the build?

Yes, if you buy a kit from Gundam Express Australia we will source replacement parts for you. This is not a quick process as parts need to come from Bandai in Japan.
