A 00 Qan[T]-inspired hero, and the first piece of General Fortress
Captain Qan[T] GF is No. 38 in Bandai's SDW Heroes line. Its armour, shield and sword bits take their cue from the 00 Qan[T] (Double O Quanta), restyled as an SD hero with a gold crest and green clear parts. In the line's story, per the instruction manual as quoted by one Japanese reviewer, it is a hero raised by Command Gundam to lead the next era of peacekeeping. It is also one of three kits that can combine into a larger machine called General Fortress.
Build difficulty
Skill Level 2. Bandai rates the kit for ages 8 and up. The build itself is a standard SDW Heroes frame (the Sangoku Soketsuden-style SD frame, per one Japanese review), but the colouring leans on a large seal sheet: one reviewer found applying the seals took about an hour, longer than assembling the kit. Plan an evening, and have your nippers ready.
Technical highlights
- Clear parts used across the body, including the shield (Bandai).
- Three weapons: a GF beam rifle, a shoulder-mounted rail gun and a shield (Bandai).
- The shield splits into upper and lower halves on ball joints, and the four sword bits detach (one Japanese review).
- Shoulders on ball joints, knees that bend, and 3mm joints on the sword bits and soles of the feet, per one Japanese review.
What makes this kit special
-
Combines into General Fortress: the box states the combined form needs the GF Gundam Astraea Type-B and Type-F as well (both sold separately).
-
Clear-part shield: the green clear shield and sword-bit parts are the standout look of the kit.
-
Dense SD detailing: Bandai describes high-density mechanical detail across the whole body.
-
Three armaments in one box: rifle, rail gun and shield, with the rifle's seam lines moulded into stepped lines so they do not show (one Japanese review).
What's in the box
- Captain Qan[T] GF parts on coloured runners
- GF beam rifle
- Shield with sword bit parts
- Shoulder-mounted rail gun (built into the kit)
- Seal sheet
- Instruction manual
Not included: a display base, and the other two General Fortress kits (sold separately).
Compatible accessories
To build General Fortress you need the GF Gundam Astraea Type-B and Type-F on top of this kit, per the box. The Type-F is in stock here as Bandai SDW Heroes GF Gundam Astray Type-F (Astraea Type-F on the box). No display base is included with the kit.

What to watch for
Drawing on two builder reviews (Dalong in English, Schizophonic9 in Japanese). Coverage is thin, so treat these as reviewer notes:
-
Limited articulation: both reviews describe it this way. One notes there are no elbow joints, and both say the skirts and side armour get in the way of deep knee bends and wide leg spreads.
-
Seal-heavy colouring: both reviews note that much of the colour detail comes from seals. One adds that the back has almost none, so a fully accurate back would need paint.
On the positive side, one reviewer found the plastic smoother than earlier SDW Heroes kits, with easier gate clean-up, though the same review calls this kit's plastic relatively soft compared with others in the line.
Build notes
Skill Level 2: nippers for removing parts and a hobby knife for gate marks. Nothing in Bandai's text or the reviews read calls for glue. Leave time for the seal sheet, and decide up front whether you want to paint the back. Recommended for ages 8 and up per Bandai.
