Bandai 1/144 HGIBO Hyakuren — Amida Custom

Bandai 1/144 HGIBO Hyakuren — Amida Custom

This is Amida Arca's personal Hyakuren, the lead Turbines mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Season 2. Amida is the second-in-command of the Turbines and one of the most respected pilots in the series, and her custom Hyakuren carries the distinctive purple and gold scheme that marks her command status. The Hyakuren itself is the Turbines' standard mobile suit — a Calamity War-era unit refurbished for modern service — and Amida's variant adds a personalised paint job along with the heavier weapons load she favours.

If you collect IBO mobile suits, Amida's Hyakuren is the natural pair to the standard Turbines Hyakuren and one of the better commander variants in the HGIBO line.

This kit is designed for beginner-to-intermediate builders and is a clean snap-fit build with strong colour separation.

The Amida Custom carries the standard Hyakuren frame with the personalised colour scheme and Amida's signature weapons. The kit includes the standard pile bunkers and Amida's preferred close-combat options. The HGIBO inner-frame engineering carries through, giving the kit solid articulation for active posing.

What Makes This Kit Special

  • Amida Arca Personal Colours: Purple and gold command-rank scheme straight from the runners
  • Turbines Lead Unit: Amida's mobile suit, the visual identity of the Turbines as Tekkadan's allies
  • Hyakuren Frame Engineering: Calamity War-era refurbished frame with full HGIBO articulation
  • Pile Bunkers and Hand Weapons: Standard Hyakuren close-combat loadout
  • Strong Colour Separation: Purple, gold, and dark grey moulding holds the headline look without paint
  • HGIBO Compatibility: Pairs naturally with the standard Hyakuren and other Turbines units
  • Action Base Compatible: Standard 3mm peg for active display

Fast Australian Shipping

Same Day Dispatch: Orders placed before 2pm weekdays ship same day. Orders after 2pm or on weekends ship next business day.

Australian Stock: In stock and ready to ship Australia-wide from Mecha Express. The HGIBO 1/144 Hyakuren — Amida Custom is Amida Arca's Turbines mobile suit, with pile bunker arm equipment and her signature weapons load included.

What to Watch For

The gold accent parts are bright but slightly brittle on the small attachment tabs — take extra care when removing them from the runner. The pile bunker arm equipment can swing freely once attached; if you want a locked-in pose, a touch of clear nail polish on the joint adds friction.

Builder Tips: Panel lining on the purple armour brings out the layered Hyakuren plating. A black panel line marker works across the purple and gold without flattening either colour. A satin topcoat unifies the foil sticker and bare plastic finish.

Build Notes

Snap-fit assembly. No glue required. Nippers recommended for clean part removal, particularly on the gold accent parts. Expect a 2-3 hour build with panel lining. Action Base sold separately. Recommended age 15+.

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.
