Bandai 1/60 PG Perfect Strike Gundam

Every Striker Pack Kira ever flew, built into one Perfect Grade

The GAT-X105+AQM/E-YM1 Perfect Strike Gundam is Bandai's Perfect Grade combination kit that lets you build the Strike Gundam wearing all three of its Striker Weapon Systems at once: Aile, Sword and Launcher. It isn't a single on-screen loadout from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED so much as the display-shelf answer to "what if you didn't have to choose", assembled at 1/60 scale with the internal frame, LED eyes and gunmetal detailing of Bandai's 2020 PG line.

Kira Yamato's Strike Gundam is the O.M.N.I. Enforcer mobile suit that anchors the first half of Gundam SEED, and this kit is built for the collector who wants every configuration on the shelf rather than picking one.

Build difficulty

This is an advanced-level Perfect Grade build. Over 300 runners across the base frame and three Striker Packs, cement recommended for a full-detail finish, and enough part count that this isn't a first PG. Budget several sessions rather than an afternoon. The trade-off for the time investment is real: PG-level articulation throughout, from a ball-and-socket neck to double-jointed elbows and knees and fully poseable manipulator fingers, so the build effort pays off in how the finished kit actually poses.

Technical highlights

The gunmetal internal frame and chrome-plated accent parts are new to this 2020 release, alongside yellow LED eye parts and a darker-shade blue on the armour panels compared to the earlier standard PG Strike Gundam. Colour separation across the white, blue, red and gold Aile Striker plus the deep green Launcher Striker and pink-red Sword Striker is handled without paint, with Tetron cloth seals for the finer markings. Every Striker Pack can be mounted individually or in the full three-pack combination this kit is named for, and each of the three packs also has its own separate Skygrasper-style flight mode transformation for MA-form display.

What Makes This Kit Special

  • All three Striker Packs in one box: Aile, Sword and Launcher, built to combine into the full Perfect Strike loadout or display separately.
  • Individual flight mode transformations: each Striker Pack transforms into its own Skygrasper-style flight mode for MA-form display, not just a fixed backpack accessory.
  • Gunmetal frame and chrome accents: new for this 2020 release, replacing the plain grey inner frame of the original PG Strike Gundam.
  • Yellow LED eye parts: a lighting gimmick most HG and RG kits at this scale don't offer.
  • PG-grade articulation: ball-and-socket neck and shoulder joints, double-jointed elbows and knees, and fully poseable manipulator fingers.
  • No paint required: colour separation across all three Striker Packs is handled by the moulded plastic and Tetron seals.
  • 39cm display height: a genuine centrepiece kit that needs real shelf space.

What to Watch For

A general web sweep found detailed articulation write-ups for this era of PG Strike Gundam kit (ball-and-socket head, sliding hip axis, poseable manipulator fingers), and reviews of the combined-pack concept single out the Sword and Launcher Striker packs as feeling a little less detailed than the Aile Striker and the main frame, given the sheer amount of engineering already spent on the base kit. No dedicated build reviews specifically for this 2020 Perfect Strike (gunmetal frame, LED, chrome accents) release turned up in the sources checked, so this is stated as genuinely thin coverage rather than a confirmed consensus.

Builder Tips: Dry-fit each Striker Pack individually before attempting the full three-pack combination, the connection points get crowded fast once all three are mounted at once. Test-fit the display stand early given the kit's height and weight.

Build Notes

Cement is recommended for a full-detail finish, though the kit is moulded in accurate colours if you'd rather build it straight from the runners. A full hobby tool set (nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks, files, tweezers) covers what this kit needs. Given the part count across three Striker Packs, budget this as a multi-session build rather than a single sitting. Recommended for experienced builders.

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.3. Basic modeling skills are essential. These kits are not recommended for beginners or children due to the high level of complexity of assembly and the sheer volume of parts. Experience in building more complex Gunpla models is recommended. Parental supervision is essential. A full set of hobby tools is recommended that includes, nippers, hobby knives, sandpaper, sanding sticks, files, buffing files, glues, tweezers, and decal adhesive/softener. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the finished Perfect Strike Gundam?

About 39cm tall assembled, and that's before you factor in the wingspan of all three Striker Packs mounted at once. Make sure you've genuinely got the shelf space before you commit.

Is this a good first Perfect Grade kit?

Not really. Between the base frame and three full Striker Packs you're looking at over 300 runners and real cement work. If you've built a PG or two already, you'll be fine, but this isn't the place to start.

Do I need to paint it, or does it come pre-coloured?

It's moulded in accurate colours across all three Striker Packs, so no paint is required. Cement is recommended for a full-detail finish, and the kit rewards painting if you want to take it further, but you can build it straight off the runners.

Can I display the Striker Packs separately instead of all combined?

Yes. Aile, Sword and Launcher can each be mounted on their own for a standard Strike Gundam loadout, or combined into the full Perfect Strike configuration this kit is named for.

What's different about this release compared to the older PG Strike Gundam?

This 2020 release adds a gunmetal internal frame, chrome-plated accent parts, yellow LED eyes and a darker armour shade than the original PG Strike Gundam, on top of including all three Striker Packs in the one box.
