This is Max Factory's PLAMAX take on the heart of Mobile Police Patlabor: the AV-98 Ingram, Noa Izumi's beloved "Alphonse", built as a detailed upper-body bust, with a small 1/20 figure of Noa herself standing alongside it on a gangway platform. It is a plastic model kit you assemble, not a finished figure, and it captures the bond between pilot and machine in a single display piece.

Build difficulty

Despite the size and detail, it is a snap-fit kit moulded across several colour runners, so no cement is needed and painting is optional. The Ingram builds up in its original police colours straight from the box, with water-slide decals and a gold-plated emblem for the finishing detail. Noa is a single-colour figure with eye decals that many builders like to paint, though it is not required. Recommended age 15 and up. A basic tool kit (nippers, a hobby knife) and a steady hand for the decals are all it asks.

We haven't found a body of independent builder reviews for this kit, so we can't pass on verified fit-and-finish feedback. Two honest notes: it is a static display piece, so there is no articulation to pose, and the finish rewards a little patience with the water-slide decals. Painting is optional, but a light wash or panel line brings out the Ingram's detail nicely.

Builder tip: seat the water-slide decals on a touch of setting solution and they'll sit down cleanly over the panel detail.

Assembly Guide

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED
Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.
No Cement Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

No Painting Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
