The HG Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette is the SEED Freedom premium kit, Shinn Asuka's upgraded Destiny paired with the massive Zeus Silhouette support armament from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom. The complete display measures over 500 mm in total length, making this one of the largest HG kits in the Cosmic Era line and the headline kit that closes the SEED Freedom HG range.

Build difficulty

HG 1/144 snap-fit with the SEED Action System internal structure. Bandai rate it age 8 and over. Mecha Express tags it intermediate and advanced, because the Zeus Silhouette assembly adds substantial part count and configuration steps on top of the standard Destiny Spec II build. Expect 8 to 12 hours total at a relaxed pace, longer if you panel line or work through the multiple Zeus modes. No glue. No paint required.

Compatible kits and accessories

This is a mobile suit kit with an oversized support armament. The Action Base is included with the kit, so no additional display stand is required for the standard pose. However, for posing the Destiny Spec II independently (without the Zeus Silhouette), or for displaying the Zeus in MA mode separately, the Bandai Action Base 2 works well as a second support stand. What to watch for

Independent reviews flag the Destiny Spec II & Zeus Silhouette as the SEED Freedom HG range's standout release. No significant build weaknesses have been called out. The Zeus Silhouette's size means the included Action Base is essential, not optional, because the kit doesn't stand independently in its full configuration.

Builder Tips. Build the Destiny Spec II first as a standalone, then move to the Zeus Silhouette so you can take breaks between major sub-assemblies. A black panel line marker reads well on the Destiny's coloured armour. The Wings of Light clear parts respond well to a thin coat of clear coloured paint (cyan or pink to match the in-film glow), but they read fine as moulded. Set the Action Base position before final attachment of the Zeus to the Destiny, because adjusting the centre of gravity after assembly is fiddly.

Build notes

No glue required for the standard build, this is snap-fit. A basic Gunpla tool kit (sharp side cutters or nippers, a hobby knife for clean-up, a panel line marker) is recommended though not essential. Allow 8 to 12 hours total build time at a relaxed pace, longer if you panel line or work through both the Destiny Spec II and the Zeus Silhouette transformation sequences carefully. Recommended age 8 and over per the Bandai box.

Assembly Guide

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED
Skill Level.3. Basic modeling skills are essential. These kits are not recommended for beginners or children due to the high level of complexity of assembly and the sheer volume of parts. Experience in building more complex Gunpla models is recommended. Parental supervision is essential. A full set of hobby tools is recommended that includes, nippers, hobby knives, sandpaper, sanding sticks, files, buffing files, glues, tweezers, and decal adhesive/softener. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.
No Cement Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

No Painting Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Mecha series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Mecha kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Awesome kit, great extras. Only criticism is that the kit comes with a base so you don't need the second one. The kit also doesn't have the ability to take the blue LED bonus so if you don't have another use for it it is wasted. Luckily, I'm a Gundam tragic so will always have uses for extra bases and lighting kits.

Very rare with fair price

If you were one of the lucky ones that were able to travel to Sydney Gundam Base pop-up in 2025 and queued extremely early (like the first 40 or so) on the first day, probably you were able to grab one of these. Otherwise, the only alternative I would know of is traveling to Japan and being uber lucky of having it still being sold at Gundam bases. Otherwise, it's a second-hand market, and prices will go up. That said, the price was fair, I think it would be similar price as using a dropship service from Japan, with the exception that it's much faster and way more guaranteed you will get proper merchandise. So, Mecha Express, Cam, thank you so much for your store!
