Bandai 30 Minutes Missions

Some nights you don't have a full Gundam build in you. 30 Minutes Missions is Bandai's answer to that. These mecha kits built to go together in about half an hour, with no glue, no paint and no pressure. Sit down, snip a few parts, and have something finished on...

Frequently Asked Questions

Are 30MM kits compatible with Gundam and other model kits?

Partly. 30MM uses a 3mm hardpoint standard shared across Bandai's 30 Minutes Label, so parts swap freely between 30MM, 30MS and 30MF kits. Connecting to Gunpla depends on the individual kit, since not every High Grade has 3mm hardpoints in useful places. Option Parts and Customize Weapons sets are the most reliable way to bridge the two lines.

Are 30MM kits good for beginners?

Yes. They are among the easiest plastic kits Bandai makes. Parts snap together without glue, the plastic is moulded in colour so paint is optional, and part counts are low enough that a first build finishes in roughly half an hour to an evening. A pair of plastic-cutting nippers is the only tool you actually need.

I already build Gunpla. Is 30MM worth picking up?

Depends what you want from it. As a display piece next to your Gundam shelf, a 30MM kit is a decent 1/144 mecha but it is not trying to out-detail an RG. Two things earn it a spot. First, the 3mm hardpoint standard: every kit in the line is a parts donor for every other kit, so two or three boxes turn into a workbench full of options. Second, it is a half-hour build, which makes 30MM the box you reach for on a night when you want to build something without committing to a project. Kit-bashers and anyone after a quick win get the most out of the line.

How much do I need to spend to actually get into customising?

Less than most Gunpla grades. A single 30MM mecha kit starts at $22.99 and builds on its own. To start swapping parts you want a second source: either a second kit or an Option Parts set from $10.99. Around $42 gets you a kit plus an Option Parts set, which is the point where the line stops being a model and starts being a system. Nippers are the only tool you need on top.

What is the difference between 30MM, 30MS and 30MF?

They are three lines under Bandai's 30 Minutes Label, sharing the same 3mm parts standard. 30 Minutes Missions (30MM) is military mecha. 30 Minutes Sisters (30MS) is character figures with customisable outfits and faces. 30 Minutes Fantasy (30MF) is swords-and-armour fantasy. Because the 3mm standard runs across all three, parts swap between the lines.
